NCR, previously known in South Africa as Spark ATM Systems, was established in 2005 and, over the course of 16 years, became the leading independent ATM deployer in South Africa. In January 2017, Cardtronics plc (Nasdaq: CATM) acquired Spark ATM Systems, marking Cardtronics’ entry into the South African market.

National Footprint
NCR is a leading ATM manufacturer, and a large portion of the global Cardtronics network is comprised of NCR devices. It was, therefore, a very easy fit in terms of company culture. NCR is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and has 36,000 employees globally.
