NCR FOUNDATION

Potential is distributed equally. Opportunity is not.

Our mission

The NCR Foundation is a catalyst of opportunity and change. We leverage our talents and resources to better our communities around the world. We are committed to donating $15 million over the next five years to help our nonprofit partners achieve real and lasting impact.

Our history of giving

NCR has long been committed to serving communities, from converting our factories to build rescue boats in the 1913 Great Dayton Flood, to 2021 when we provided COVID relief support and 100,000 vaccinations in India.

Over the decades the NCR Foundation has supported civic causes, health and human services, arts and culture, and education. Today our grantmaking is directed to three key areas where we believe we can have the greatest impact:

STEM Education
We are relentlessly focused on STEM education for students, particularly in underserved communities.

Economic Development
Our efforts to eliminate poverty and drive economic development include fostering job creation and provident training on critical workforce skills.

Disaster Response
From natural disasters to the COVID pandemic, we step up in times of crisis.

Our impact

The NCR Foundation’s investments in causes worldwide are aligned with NCR’s ESG values. Because how we give is just as important as how we innovate.

Since 2012 we have donated over $12 million to nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and across the globe, including:

  • STEM Education: $7.5M
  • Economic Development: $900,000

Where we give

Our work is always expanding. See where we have funded past and current projects around the world. See NCR Foundation’s work in action.

UNICEF in Brazil and Serbia

Through organizations like Liga Solidaria in Brazil and the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation in Serbia, we have helped youth and adults build a better future through STEAM education initiatives, such as free coding and programming workshops and the development of Maker Lab Spaces equipped for teaching hands-on, design thinking skills

Westside Future Fund in Atlanta

This five-year partnership and $1M investment pairs NCR with Georgia Tech, a renowned research university, to help the Westside Future Fund give underserved students access to STEAM technology education at Westside Atlanta’s Hollis Innovation Academy.

Junior Achievement 3DE in Georgia

NCR Foundation is a sponsor of Junior Achievement in Georgia and its innovative 3DE School program, which re-engineers high school education to be more relevant, experiential, and authentically connected to the complexities of the real world in order to more fully prepare today’s students for the demands of tomorrow’s economy. In 2020-2021 we supported their launch of four additional schools in Georgia.

InspiredU: Remote Learning During the Pandemic

Amidst the pandemic and school closings, not all students had access to the technology they needed to learn remotely. As a partner of Inspiredu, NCR Foundation had donated 2,000 PCs for students over the previous five years. We were able to quickly help Inspiredu upgrade their VOIP network in partnership with other technology companies so Inspiredu could better meet the demand for technology—today and tomorrow.

NCR Foundation grant strategy

We use a partnership grant strategy through investments with nonprofit partners.

Our overall grant allocations are a combination of short-term small grants and deeper investments through impact grants. See grant limitations here.

Grant limitations

All grantees must be charitable, nonprofit organizations that are classified as a 501(c)(3) public charity by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The NCR Foundation proactively identifies potential recipients whose mission and programs align with its strategy, and no longer accepts unsolicited grant applications.

The NCR Foundation does not support, nor are grants used in connection with:

• Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, gender/gender identity, national origin, religion, disability, medical condition, marital status, sexual orientation, veteran or military status, pregnancy, ancestry, age or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, county or local laws, regulations or ordinances.
