Mobile application called Usherman™ helps reduce long lines at the box office
DULUTH, Ga. – NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) today announced the launch of Usherman™, a new application that increases speed of service by enabling ushers to scan and retrieve ticket information at the usher stand or anywhere in the theatre. Compatible with the iPod touch 4G, theatre operators can download the application directly from the Apple iTunes store. Using an integrated sled that enables card swipes and scans barcodes, purchases can be found by confirmation number, credit card, gift card and loyalty card.
Usherman integrates seamlessly with Radiant point-of-sale software and provides theatre ushers with a way to quickly serve consumers who prefer the convenience of online ticketing. With this application, ushers can scan and retrieve tickets movie patrons have printed at home or downloaded to their Smartphone devices.
“Consumers continue to expect convenience and fast service when they go to the movies,” said Brian Whitney, director of business development, NCR Hospitality and Specialty Retail. “Usherman not only enhances the guest experience, it is integrated with the POS to make sure all ticketing information is captured and stored in one database.”
Cobb Theatres, a leader in providing the ultimate entertainment experience, has piloted the Usherman solution in its premiere cinema and dinner-and-a-movie concept, CinéBistro, in Atlanta, GA.
“Cobb Theatres’ goal is to redefine the moviegoing experience and change the way people watch movies and socialize,” said Jeremy Welman, chief operating officer, Cobb Theatres. “Usherman is a perfect fit for carrying out our mission to give our customers the best possible entertainment experience they could have…every time.”
NCR acquired Radiant Systems, Inc. in August 2011, positioning the company as the leader in hospitality and specialty retail with more than 100,000 installations worldwide. Customers include leading brands and venues in the restaurant and food service, sports and entertainment, petroleum and convenience and specialty retail markets.
