How NCR helped Sbarro update its technology to serve their customers better and drive operational efficiencies.

What they needed

Technology which will boost efficiency and performance

Founded in 1956, Sbarro is an iconic brand that specializes in New York style pizza by the slice and Strombolis. They currently have over 600 corporate and franchised locations worldwide.

To keep pace with consumer demand for more enhanced experiences, Sbarro wanted a technology system which would handle new payment methods such as Apple and Google Pay, integrations with internal and third party applications, and the ability to introduce new loyalty programs. All this needed to be delivered in a platform which was efficient, cost effective, and could be implemented in their corporate restaurants and franchise operations.

What we delivered

A standardized platform with credit card processing across the country

By moving to NCR’s Silver Pro POS solution, now known as Aloha Cloud, Sbarro managed to standardize their POS and payment processing across the whole company. This is laying the groundwork for a unified approach across the business enabling franchisees to benefit from the same technology. They are currently working with franchisees to move onto this standardized platform to make it possible to offer loyalty programs, access to gift cards and a consistent customer experience.

What happened next?

Updated technology and advanced insights into key data

Moving to the NCR Aloha Cloud restaurant point-of-sale and management platform across all locations gives management easier access to sales, labor and other key performance metrics to make decisions quickly. Both the upfront investment and ongoing costs were lower than their previous solution and it will save franchises a significant amount of time by reducing the need for manual reporting.

After completing a pilot in a few locations, they installed NCR Silver Pro, now known as Aloha Cloud, in 130 additional locations within six months. Feedback from employees so far has been extremely positive.
