ALDI SÜD is one of the world’s leading discount supermarkets with its success built on the idea that high-quality everyday products should be available to everyone. And they wanted to modernize their whole business model to stay competitive—and redefine what “discount” really means.

That included  robust e-commerce and a digital-first approach like “endless aisle” integrations of in-store and online shopping. And they wanted to make changes to their stores’ format allowing customers to choose and weigh individual items. They also wanted their popular promotional items to change more often and explore adding new product lines, such as furniture. But they needed a partner they could trust to support all of the changes, and help run their systems with no downtime and quick responses when things go wrong—especially during the pandemic.

What we delivered

New POS systems and quick-response maintenance

In part because of NCR VOYIX’s 15-year track record as a technology partner to ALDI SÜD, they chose NCR to supply new POS systems and accessories for the modernization of ALDI SÜD’s stores in Germany. After successfully coordinating delivery and deployment of new hardware with local installers, systematically removing an older base of hardware as ALDI SÜD targeted each new store for modernization, NCR took on hardware maintenance services to keep all systems up and running.
