Retail: Frequently asked questions regarding COVID-19

Published April 16, 2020

NCR has established a global coronavirus response task force to help maintain employee safety, customer safety and business continuity.

We're focused on making commerce possible. And we’re in constant contact with our customers to help you do that through a variety of support options including (but not limited to):

If you have additional questions or would like to consult with us on how to take your brand through these challenging times, please don't hesitate to contact us at 1-800-CALL-NCR.

Our goal is to continue offering the same level of quality, responsiveness and support you’ve come to expect from NCR and minimize service disruptions or impacts to your business. We must operate within government guidelines and restrictions, however, which could affect supply chain and shipments. We will strive to keep you continually updated on any delays that occur.

We are continuing to deliver service. Governments around the world have implemented new guidelines, including restrictions on gatherings, cross-border movements and so on—and we anticipate further restrictions in the coming days.

Our task force has proactively worked with each of our critical business functions and support facilities to adapt to this new working environment while we implement our own continuity plans.

While our customer engineers follow equipment cleaning protocols, we recommend all retailers follow these guidelines for properly cleaning equipment.

Many local governments are issuing guidelines on whether retailers can continue operations and restrictions for those that stay open. We recommend staying up to date on these regulations, as they have been changing frequently.

For essential retailers that are remaining open, it’s important to adhere to local guidelines regarding social distancing. It’s also the right time to deploy alternate shopping experiences such as online ordering, curbside pickup and delivery.

NCR has provided instructions on how to clean NCR hardware without causing damage.

Additional information on disinfecting and cleaning surfaces can be gathered at CDC.gov and WHO.int.

Many of our products contain additional plastic and metal surfaces that aren’t part of the core touch technology. We recommend cleaning those surfaces with soap, water and bleach solution, being careful as bleach can damage clothing
