Marija Zivanovic-Smith is NCR’s Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing & Communications Officer. She is responsible for Brand Strategy, Corporate Marketing, Digital Marketing, External Affairs, Corporate Communications, Media Relations and Government Relations. She also serves on the Board of NCR Foundation, empowering missions that matter in NCR communities around the globe. During the pandemic, Marija was appointed to lead NCR’s global pandemic response, providing strategy, governance and oversight that prioritizes the safety of employees and customers while driving business continuity.


With over two decades of international tech-sector experience, Marija is recognized internationally for her excellence in the modernization of brands and digital infrastructures, building strong public-private partnerships, crisis and change management, and data-driven decision making. Marija’s team champions NCR’s culture and brand identity in communities where NCR employees and customers live and work. She has helped NCR re-imagine and modernize a 136-year-old iconic brand across every channel and audience to bring NCR as a Service to life.


From December 2016 to December 2019, Marija served as White House appointee to the APEC Business Advisory Council, providing guidance on economic growth and the digital economy across APEC. She serves on the Advisory Boards of a green energy and a digital agency start up, and on the Atlanta Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative Board. Additionally, she currently sits on the board of directors of the Information Technology Industry Council. Marija is a regular contributor to Forbes and is an advisory member on the Forbes Communication Council.


Before joining NCR, Marija served as the lead lobbyist and government and regulatory affairs strategist for cleantech start up, Gridpoint, Inc. She spent seven years with IBM Corporation in executive roles across government programs, external affairs and emerging business opportunities.


Marija is a graduate of the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and is fluent in English and Serbian, and proficient in Italian.
