October 30, 2017 01:00 PM

Small Business Saturday is a day to support small, local businesses. Support your own business by taking advantage of this holiday and rewarding loyal customers.

Get ready to share the love, and cash in, on November 24.

Ready to feel the love? Small Business Saturday (SBS) was designed to support small, local businesses. But it’s also your chance to reward loyal customers and cash in by attracting new ones.

The SBS phenomenon is strong and growing. What started in 2010 as a fledgling attempt to celebrate small businesses is now a multi billion-dollar national event that draws consumers willing to renounce chains and big box stores in search of unique goods and a more personal shopping experience.

Plenty of consumers are inspired to “shop small®,” as the statistics in the infographic below reveal. And many are willing to pay more for what they find when they do:

SBS is a chance to reward loyal customers with special promotions and also gain exposure to new customers with the help of the right marketing strategies.

Leverage social media to the max, since other businesses will be plenty active there:

Don’t forget to use the hashtags #SmallBizSat or #ShopSmall.

On social media, on your website and in your email newsletter and SMS texts, advertise your specials, tell the story of your business — and remember to emphasize the fact that supporting local businesses is an investment in the community.
