Another reason we’re excited for NCR Synergy 2015 to be in Orlando is the opportunity to explore the amazing culinary scene! This week’s blog has some great recommendations on the best dining spots in and around the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort. For additional information on Orlando attractions, restaurants and more, you can access the Orlando website. Orlando is a well-renowned destination and home to some of the most enticing dining opportunities on the planet. If you have a spare night off either side of Synergy, I would suggest you consider venturing to one of these great spots for a taste of Orlando. You can enjoy regional foods and culinary trends that you simply can’t find at home. There are 17 restaurants and lounges between the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, plus many more on Disney’s boardwalk, a short walk from the hotel. We’ve taken a look at some of the signature restaurants at the hotel as well as a couple of favorites in the Orlando downtown area. If you have an appetite for fine food then read on….. Shulas Steak House (location: Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort) Looking for a restaurant that serves the biggest and the best steak – then you’ve found it! Shulas Steak House, themed after the 1972 Miami Dolphins' "Perfect Season", serves some of the finest steaks. Their custom center cuts of Premium Black Angus Beef® steaks accompanied with their aging process make up their award winning SHULA CUT®, the best beef money can buy. Il Mulino (location: Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort) If you want an exquisite culinary experience that will transport you to the verdant hills and rustic kitchens of Abruzzo, Italy, then pick Il Mulino. Whether you indulge in their handmade pastas or a lovingly crafted artisan pizza, you will be able to revel in the innovative dishes that have made Trattoria Il Mulino a top destination in casual-chic dining. The Fountain (location: Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort) Travel back to the future in this stylized, futuristic diner, known for its juicy burgers, golden fries, and crispy salads. One of the most popular burger restaurants in the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, it offers more casual dining with crisp salads, custom grilled burgers, and a mouth-watering array of sandwiches and desserts, as well as homemade or soft serve ice cream, malts and shakes from their open ice-cream counter. The Ravenous Pig(Location: Winter Park, 30 minute cab ride from the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort) With a casual and lively gastro pub atmosphere, this is one of Florida’s first restaurants to champion local farmers, fishermen and artisanal purveyors. The Pig’s menu features year-round favorites such as Canaveral Shrimp ‘n Grits, Pork Porterhouse, Gruyere Biscuits, Steak Frites and its decadent Pig Tails with Chocolate Espresso Sauce dessert. Seasonal fresh Florida seafood is available with Pastas and charcuterie handmade daily.  Specialty desserts like Plant City Strawberry-Rhubarb Crisp and Zellwood Corn Crepes with Florida Blueberry Compote provide fitting ends to perfect meals. Delicious! K Restaurant (Location: College Park, 30 minute cab ride from the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort) If you want to venture slightly further afield then K Restaurant’s cleanly crafted plates prepared with locally sourced ingredients will knock your palate out. The setting is inviting, with a pleasant atmosphere to unwind, whether you dine indoors or al fresco. Entrees here might include a luscious filet mignon on potato gratin, tender duck breast with fried Brussels sprouts or a rich, sausage-infused mac-and-cheese. As 10BEST states “Its menu is like Forrest Gump's proverbial box of chocolates” which is a good thing! Cookes of Dublin (Location: Downtown Disney Area) Located in Downtown Disney, a short walk from the hotel, this fabulous restaurant serves the best Irish fare.  So whether your appetite cries out for an authentic Irish Beef and Lamb Pie, their delightful battered burgers or the Original One & One hand battered fresh fish & chips, you’ll go away happy. Especially if you choose one of their deep-fried candy bars for dessert. Bliss. House of Blues (Location: Downtown Disney Area) Head on down to House of Blues for dishes inspired by traditional Southern fare and international favorites. The mouth-watering menu from Crossroads at House of Blues showcases such staples as Creole jambalaya, slow-smoked pulled pork and shrimp with grits, as well as beefy burgers, street tacos and meatloaf wrapped with applewood bacon. As you savor the flavors alongside a heaping helping of music from the South, be sure to check out the paintings and sculptures by over 60 Delta-region artists! Remember there is complimentary transportation to Downtown Disney, from the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, which allows guests to easily go to any Disney owned restaurants.  To view a complete list of all the Disney restaurants located within the Disney parks, at Downtown Disney, or at the Disney resort, visit https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/.
