When it comes to helping our clients take the friction out of physical and digital retail experiences, you’d be hard pressed to find someone with more hands-on expertise and dedication than Kalyna Stiles, global solutions director for NCR Retail Solutions.
For more than 25 years, she’s been working with retailers to successfully navigate evolving consumer expectations, multi-channel shopping journeys and other changes in the industry. It’s not a surprise, then, that she was recently named one of the Women Changing the Retail World by Retail Leader magazine. This distinction names her alongside groundbreaking women at some of the world’s biggest brands, all of whom are making dramatic impacts on their own business - and the industry as a whole - through innovation, strategic vision and team leadership.
Speaking at EuroCIS 2018, Kalyna discussed some of the challenges retailers face. “We’ve moved away from just looking at things from a productivity and efficiency perspective to how retailers can excite, and enable a transaction that’s easy seamless and convenient for the consumer,” she said. “As we move through that it’s also enabling a transaction that may have started online to now be conducted and fulfilled within the physical store environment.”
Kalyna’s work spans the introduction of self-checkout, which revolutionized the front-end, to more recent technologies such as mobile shopping and buy online/pickup in-store – all supporting increasingly diverse purchase paths across blurred physical and digital realms.
In every corner of the world, she is helping retailers analyze their business and reimagine ways to serve shoppers better and thrive in the new industry landscape. This could mean different things to different retailers, depending on factors like where they are on the journey to frictionless retail, the tech preferences of their shoppers, their geography and physical footprint. Assessing the unique challenges, goals, and growth plans for these retailers, Kalyna is part of a team that makes bespoke recommendations to help them achive their business objectives.
