Software to improve customer experience, consolidate ATM management costs and provide a smooth migration path to future functionality
LONDON – NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) today announced that Nationwide Building Society will install NCR APTRA™ Advance NDC automated teller machine (ATM) software across its complete estate of 2,650 NCR ATMs. The transition is part of the building society’s plans to speed up ATM transaction times, reduce ATM management costs and introduce new ATM functionality.
Chris Shott, Nationwide’s head of Business Logistics, said, “Nationwide has been using NCR ATM hardware for over ten years. Within this time, NCR has become more of a partner than just a supplier. Nationwide’s decision to use NCR software will enable us to simplify our ATM management structure while providing a significantly better service to our members going forward.”
With its open architecture, NCR APTRA software provides the flexibility to connect to multiple hardware terminals, banking systems and applications to support a full range of transactions including complex intelligent deposit transactions support for ATM advertising and simple cash dispense. It is a future-proof solution enabling the efficient re-use of existing off-the-shelf software and skills to deliver new ATM solutions as required.
Shott concludes, “NCR’s APTRA Advance NDC offers a reliable software solution that will help to increase Nationwide’s ATM availability, and consequently, our transaction levels. Its wide breadth of ready-to-use applications will provide a smooth path to new ATM services for our members. NCR’s combined leading technology and expertise will help shape our ATM network of the future.”
Rachel Nash, NCR’s area financial industry director for the UK and Ireland, said, “Nationwide has ambitious plans for its ATM network which can be delivered with ease and speed by NCR’s proven software and supporting solutions. NCR APTRA Advance NDC not only meets the needs of financial institutions today, but it provides a migration route to future functionality based on market demand, such as Customer Relationship Management, bill payment, and contactless card top-up applications.”
NCR’s APTRA suite is running on more than 200,000 ATMs globally, operated by more than 250 deployers. It has received the fastest support for new security and legislative standards in the market. For example, APTRA Advance NDC was the first self-service program to receive Europay MasterCard Visa EMV Level 2 accreditation. With NCR’s continuous emphasis on software leadership and evolution, new functionalities will become available to deliver the services banking customers’ desire.
