Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) services 72 destinations in 39 countries across the globe from its Zurich hub and additional international airports of Basel and Geneva. SWISS is committed to upholding the values of hospitality and customer care as well as environmental responsibility. In October 2009, with these core objectives in mind, SWISS engaged the mobile channel to provide mobile boarding pass delivery to its customers following either mobile or web check-in.
The challenge
SWISS looked to implement mobile boarding pass technology that could co-exist with current SWISS services and to enhance the passenger experience. SWISS required the maximum number of customers to be reached with a secure bar-coded boarding pass compatible with existing airport scanners. In addition to meeting customer needs, SWISS’ technical specifications mandated a swift integration and implementation, an IATA-compliant solution and comprehensive features such as code generation and short message service (SMS) gateway setup.
