Sodhexo and the JCPenny Headquarters; An NCR Case Study

The customer

Located in Plano, Texas, the JCPenney world headquarters campus includes several restaurants and a gift shop operated by Sodexo, a leading provider of integrated food and facilities management services in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Sodexo is a leader in bringing innovative solutions to corporate facilities and businesses.

The challenge

Sodexo wanted to upgrade the point-of-sale (POS) system at the JCPenney world headquarters, which includes several food service areas, a cafeteria, gift shop, coffee shop, small fine dining restaurant and quick service restaurant.

The POS system in place at the headquarters consisted of standard electronic cash registers that often broke down, had limited support, and offered little flexibility. Overall, the system did not provide meaningful reports.

Along with receiving better information and reports, Sodexo and JCPenney wanted a more advanced touchscreen and software that was flexible and would grow with their needs. It was important for the six restaurants and one gift shop to all be tied together on one network. They wanted a robust POS terminal that would stand up to the busy and diverse environment that makes up the JCPenney headquarters.
