NCR selected for venue management solution at Newcastle’s Hunter Stadium

NCR Venue Manager set to improve service for Knights and Jets fans

NEWCASTLE, Australia - NCR (NYSE:NCR) announced today that it is implementing its venue management solution at Hunter Stadium, Newcastle, following an agreement with Gema Group, the venue’s catering provider.

At the heart of the solution is NCR Venue Manager, an advanced point-of-sale (POS) and reporting system that has been deployed in more than 200 stadiums and arenas globally.  It will be teamed with the NCR Quest POS terminal, built to deliver rapid speed of service in demanding retail environments.

NCR Venue Manager will provide the 33,000-capacity Newcastle Stadium with real-time sales and stock information from every one of the 90 NCR Quest POS terminals throughout the venue’s 28 food and beverage outlets.  It will enable the stadium to accurately report, analyse and forecast sales, reducing wastage and keeping costs under control.

The NCR Quest POS terminal was selected to withstand Newcastle Stadium’s punishing usage conditions and deliver very fast speed of service.  This is critical in a stadium environment, where huge numbers of consumers make purchases in a small time window before taking their seats.  The NCR Quest POS terminal is also built to withstand the spills and physical demands typical of food and beverage outlets.

“The unique retail environment of stadiums and arenas demands a tough, highly specialised point-of-sale system,” said Paul Valenti, Gema Group’s general manager.  “The NCR solution was the first and only choice for Newcastle because it has already proven itself at Canberra Stadium, where it met all the demands placed upon it and exceeded our expectations.

“NCR Venue Manager will help us streamline operations, increase speed of service and enable us to easily roll-out new services, such as loaded tickets, in-seat service and contactless ‘tap and go’ payments.”

The venue management solution will go live on Saturday 8 December when the Newcastle Jets play the Central Coast Mariners in the Hyundai A-League F3 Derby.

Nick Wagnitz, NCR general manager hospitality, said, “NCR Venue Manager has been successfully implemented by a number of Australian stadium and arena operators in 2012.  Gema Group’s selection of the solution for Newcastle, just nine months after it went live in Canberra is a great endorsement of the technology and the NCR team that supports it.”
