First airline in Latin America to deploy new full-featured self-service check-in software solution from NCR
DULUTH, Georgia – TACA International Airlines (TACA), recognized by SkyTrax in 2009 as the best airline in Central America, is taking self-service convenience to the next level by deploying a self-service enterprise software solution from NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) that enables passengers to manage a broad range of check-in services, beyond simple check-in, through the web or at a kiosk.
Geared toward extending greater convenience to international travelers, the solution captures passport information, online and at the check-in kiosk, and makes it simple for passengers to make last-minute modifications after check-in, like change seats or add frequent flier information. Passengers can conduct transactions in either English or Spanish.
“We have built our reputation on operating one of the most efficient and passenger-friendly airlines in the world,” said Estuardo Ortiz, COO for TACA-Avianca. “By expanding check-in capabilities at the kiosk and on the web, we are able to maintain that distinction by offering our passengers even greater control over their entire flight experience. This is one of many pieces working together to positively impact our travelers’ overall experience with us.”
Currently available in the Cuscatlán International Airport, San Salvador, El Salvador, the new solution from NCR allows TACA to quickly and easily modify graphics and text, such as post travel alerts and promotions. On-demand customization also facilitates changes to reservation retrieval options and destinations.
“Airlines today must quickly adjust to frequent route changes, fluctuating load factors and unprecedented consolidation, while maintaining a superior passenger experience,” said Theresa Heinz, vice president and general manager of NCR Travel and Gaming. “Employing a seamless and comprehensive self-service strategy can make it easier to meet these challenging demands by increasing efficiency and passenger satisfaction.”
NCR self-service airline solutions check in more than 100 million passengers each year and are deployed in more than 300 airports worldwide.
