The challenge

Shrink check processing costs
“We’ve been depositing checks the same way for 75 years,” says Kevin Reeve, Assistant Vice President and Controller, Hy-Vee. “What we’ve been looking for is a better way to do it. Cost reduction is our number one driver, but we also wanted a solution that didn’t impact the customer experience.”

Point-of-purchase (POP) conversion slowed customers down Hy-Vee had experimented with POP conversion in the past, but soon decided the cost savings weren’t worth the trade-off in customer experience. “We found POP conversion slowed down the purchase transaction, which was not acceptable.
