Founded in 1920, China Banking Corporation (or China Bank as it’s usually known) was the first privately owned local commercial bank in the Philippines. Since then it has achieved many firsts, including being the first bank in Southeast Asia to process deposit accounts online (in 1969) and the first bank in the Philippines to offer telephone banking (in 1988).
