William (Bill) Nuti is chairman, CEO and president of NCR Corporation, a FORTUNE 500 global technology company, coined by one reporter as a “self-service technology giant,” revolutionizing the way people connect, interact and transact with business. NCR’s enterprise-wide solutions and services are driving consumer experience innovations and productivity gains for Financial Services, Retail, Hospitality, Travel and Telecom and Technology Services industries. With 23,000 employees in more than 120 countries, NCR enables more than 300 million transactions every single day.
Bill is highly respected for his transformational leadership skills and acclaimed for his vision and expertise in repositioning companies for profitable and sustained growth. Bill successfully executed the spin-off of Teradata in 2007, a decision that is now considered one of the most successful tax-free spin-off’s in history; five years later, the combined market cap of NCR and Teradata is over $12 billion, double the market cap prior to the spin-off.
Bill’s critical decisions to build a best-in-class global organization have not gone unnoticed. He has been heralded by government officials and news organizations for bringing advanced manufacturing jobs back to America. Under Bill’s leadership, NCR built the nation’s first retrofitted manufacturing facility to receive LEED® certification for environmental sustainability, bringing hundreds of jobs to the state of Georgia in the process. In 2007, NCR appeared on FORTUNE magazine’s “Most Admired Companies”; and in 2008, TIME magazine's cover story, “10 ideas that are changing the world,” highlighted the global self-service movement as the number two revolutionary idea, identifying Bill Nuti as the thought leader behind this consumer-driven movement. Throughout his tenure, NCR has been recognized for its humanitarian contributions with the Red Cross Good Neighbor Award and its commitment to employee training and development with the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) BEST Award.
Bill is an established enterprise and business policy leader in Washington D.C. where he is often invited to speak on Capitol Hill. He has also founded a CEO policy forum on tax reform and competitiveness and was invited to speak at the White House Forum on Strategy for American Innovation. In 2009, Bill testified in front of the Ways and Means Committee on behalf of 300 American employers, successfully advocating for pension funding reform and preservation of American jobs.
Prior to joining NCR as CEO in 2005, Bill served as president and CEO of Symbol Technologies, Inc. Under Bill’s leadership, he led a challenging and highly-successful turnaround of Symbol, returning the company to profitability for the first time in five years, and increasing revenue growth by 24 percent from 2002 to 2004. He was the winner of American Business Award’s Best Turnaround Executive, Fast Company’s Fast 50 and was a finalist for the Best Business Turnaround.
Bill joined Symbol following more than 10 years at Cisco Systems, Inc. where he held positions of increasing responsibility, advancing to the dual role of senior vice president of the company’s Worldwide Service Provider Operations and senior vice president of U.S. Theater Operations, responsible for over $15 billion of Cisco’s global revenue stream. Prior to that, Nuti served as Cisco’s president of Europe, Middle East and Africa and before that, vice president of the Asia/Pacific region. He is a member of the Georgia Institute of Technology advisory board, a Long Island University trustee and a member of the Sprint Nextel Corporation board of directors where he sits on the Finance and Compensation Committees. Bill holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from Long Island University.
